Rotation Highlights

The Bristol rotation is an excellent training program, topping the rankings in the GMC national training survey twice in the last three years. This is testament to both an excellent teaching program, coordinated by the trainees, and the enthusiastic and supportive trainers throughout the deanery.

At the centre of the deanery Bristol is a great place to live with most hospitals commutable from here. Within the city we are fortunate to have dedicated Adult and Paediatricmajor trauma centrescovering a wide catchment area. As part of the rotation all trainees will rotate through both units gaining ample experience in major trauma which includes closely working alongside an excellent cohort or Plastic surgeons.

As part of your time in Bristol overseas or OOP experiences are extremely well supported. One of our current ST7s has set up BONES (Bristol Orthopaedic Network Ethiopia-Severn). This link with a University hospital in Bahir Dar involves regular trips with both trainees and Consultants to enhance learning and development on both sides.

Finally socials are an important aspect of the Bristol rotation. On a weekly basis registrars gather in a local pub for a pint or more making it easy for new trainees to settle in. In addition to this the social calendar also includes yearly Consultant v Registrars sports matches as well the summer BBQ and Christmas Ball.
