Rotation Highlights
North West Thames is a prestigious rotation run through Imperial College and is based at St Mary’s Hospital which is also the regional major trauma centre. Trainees are allocated to a number of set rotations so they are able to plan where they will be for the duration of the rotation, and have ample time to organise house moves etc.
Teaching is curriculum/FRCS orientated and covers all topics over a three year period. The rotation is one of the smallest geographically which means that trainees are generally able to base themselves in one area over the course of training and that travel between hospitals is easily facilitated.
ABOUT THE REP
Mark Sykes
After graduating Imperial in 2016 I completed my foundation training in North West Thames before moving to Guys and St Thomas’ and Kings for core training. I am now ST5 back on the North West Thames rotation.
With a research and teaching background I’m happy to help with queries about the rotation as well as advice regarding the extra-curricular elements that surgical training demands. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have.
