Attention ALL medical students! BOTA are excited to announce our Medical Student Elective bursary for 2024!! BOTA are offering x3 £500 bursaries to help fund a medical elective in T&O.

Why Join BOTA as a medical student?

BOTA is a non-profit organisation that works to promote and improve the standards of orthopaedic training in the United Kingdom and to represent the interests of orthopaedic trainees and medical students considering a career in surgery. 

How to Join BOTA

Membership with BOA includes a membership to BOTA for medical students (£20 annually).

Membership of both organisations allows you to take part in a range of opportunities and events including both the BOA Congress and BOTA Congress separately.

Every year we need enthusiastic medical students to help us run our annual BOTA Congress. 

You get the opportunity to be involved in our national conference and a certificate of appreciation.

If you are interested, please email student@bota.org.uk

As BOTA Medical Student Rep, you become a full member of the BOTA committee helping to shape the BOTA agenda and engagement with medical students. 

You will be responsible for liaising with our undergraduate surgical societies as well as the key to organising student-focussed sessions run by BOTA at our Congress!

No matter what level you are, BOTA offers a number of opportunities to engage with T&O, from courses, to events and our very own webinar series: Bare Bones. 

Bare Bones is aimed at medical students and above to help build your orthopaedic knowledge for finals and prepare you for a career in orthopaedics.

BOTA Congress is our flagship event of the year and is where you get the chance to network with orthopaedic trainees across the country, rub shoulders with leading consultants giving world class lectures and learn from our medical student focussed sessions which run throughout Congress!!
