The course is focused on the management of patient with fractures to the pelvis and acetabulum. The full spectrum of the evaluation, diagnostic work up and treatment options of these fractures will be covered. An integrated multidisciplinary approach to comprehensive treatment is provided by a renowned faculty of experts. Surgical approaches will be practiced on cadaveric stations. In addition to lectures and workshops, interactive sessions with the discussion of clinical scenarios, their optimal management along with case presentations.
Topics to include:
Pelvic Ring
· Anatomy and radiology
· Injury classification
· Approaches: anterior and posterior (cadaveric dissections)
· Principles of acute management
· Indications of operative treatment according to the type of lesion
· Anterior ring reconstruction
· Posterior ring reconstruction
· Practical workshops: application of external fixators, pubic symphysis plating
· Case presentations
Acetabulum
· Anatomy and radiology
· Injury classification
· Approaches: Kocher-Langenbeck, Ilioinguinal and Stoppa (cadaveric dissections)
· Principles of management
· Indications of operative treatment according to the type of lesion
· Practical workshops: ORIF of the posterior wall
